Radiation Oncology Physics Essentials Teaching Tools for Radiation Oncology Physics

Temperature and pressure corrections are commonly used in Radiation Oncology Physics to correct readings from open air ion chambers. The CTP application extracts weather observations from local airport METAR reports and models atmospheric pressure as a function of elevation above sea level. The sea level pressure, airport temperature, airport elevation extracted from local METAR weather observations along with device GPS readings are used to generate a local corrected pressure. The corrected pressure can then be applied in the standard temperature and pressure correction equation to generate what we know as the CTP correction factor.
